A very revealing water test

We show people by electrolysis (conductivity) test what is dissolved in nice clear water, whether ultra pure, rainwater, bore, town, spring or mineral. Many people are shocked, but it is an honest test, and we explain the associated chemistry.

*   This is the test illustration that appears in our brochures, flyers, backs of business cards, and posters. The complete written explanation is available below .

Or email us with any comments and/or questions.

'Yes there is a choice, and a pure one at that'

Due to the purity of both Refresh Pure Water®, and Drink up® - you will read more about below - we can proudly recommend either for a potential user, needing and/or wanting to improve their body's lifestyle. We are at the forefront of the 'Age of Wellness'. Many in the medical and alternative medical profession actively recommend our pure bottled drinking waters to their patients. Waters that are produced, ozonated, bottled and currently distributed from our Toowoomba plant. And, neither will turn green & slimy in the bottle, when exposed to sunlight.

Now for our specific brands, first is our purest one:

Refresh Pure Water® is our flagship ‘pure’ steam distilled ‘vapor compressed’ drinking and industrial water.

refresh logoRefresh's process is a copy of Mother Nature’s evaporative cycle of water purification. Mother Nature starts with contaminated water, whether on land or in the salty oceans. With the help of the sun, water is evaporated by changing it from a liquid into a vapor.

The rising vapor consists of pure water molecules - H20 only - leaving all contaminants behind that were previously associated with and attached to the water molecule. And, that was whether the contaminants were dissolved salt and other items in the oceans, or the water on land in a muddy puddle with numerous dissolved minerals, metals, chemicals, and potentially dangerous pathogens like bacteria, cysts and viruses.

Mother Nature continues the never-ending cycle of water purification undertaken since the earth was formed and water started to flow. Water vapor collected in the clouds condenses into liquid or solid hail, sleet or snow flakes, that fall back to earth. The endless water purification process continues and is vitally essential to the maintenance of health for all of the creatures on earth.

So, let’s look at the Refresh Pure Water® process. Refresh uses a patented process called vapor compression. It is thoroughly modern using the latest thermodynamic process so that the cold input water is exposed to heat from previously created steam and an electrical element, bringing the water to the boil. Because typical waters 'mixtures' have portions that will boil at a lower temperature than of water, those portions must be removed in a simple 'de-gassing' operation, before the main boiling part of the process is started. Once the thermodynamically heated input water has been 'de-gassed', the major remaining portion is introduced to the main boiling chamber to be boiled to produce steam.

We could use almost any input water including spring, bore and brackish waters, but our main source is rainwater collected into storage tanks at our Toowoomba plant holding over 70,000 litres. Alternatively, we use processed town, spring or mineral water. Any of them through our patented vapor compression process will produce the identical pure steam distilled drinking or industrial water. The rain or town and other feed waters are forced through sediment filters, to remove sediment from the roof and town water pipes, plus algae from the rainwater tanks. Potentially dangerous carcinogenic tri halo methanes (THM's) formed by chlorine gas previously injected into town water and combined with organic material is removed by activated carbon filtration. Next, the Input water is treated through a water softening ion exchange system to reduce the hardness to less than 1 part per million (ppm) in order to avoid any plating in the distiller by destructive calcium and magnesium dissolved in most town waters. With the softening process, we are able to use a range of low TDS rainwaters through to brackish waters containing high concentrations of other dissolved solids and still produce an ultra pure steam distilled drinking water below one (ppm) of totally dissolved solids (TDS).

Note: by definition, an ultra pure steam distilled drinking water can contain up to 5 ppm TDS, or over 5 times more than our normal Refresh Pure Water®.

The steam vapor created inside the distiller is collected and compressed (vapor compression) by a rotating internal compressor, and cooled by a thermodynamic heat transfer system into liquid distilled water. The latent heat of condensation brings the cold input water close to boiling, and once underway, the system becomes a continuous process, with only intermittent heat required from the heating elements. The vapor compression method allows us to repeat Mother Nature's process only two metres off the ground in a very cost effective way.

In the distilling process, as written above, non H20 products are 'left behind'. The left behind portion still in liquid form is called 'reject'. Depending on the input level of the dissolved solids, the reject water drawn out of the boiling chamber varies from 10 to 20% of the input, and is actually purer due to the boiling process than when obtained from the city, bore (could be spring water before bottling), tank, dam or lake. In the case of a typical high totally dissolved solids (TDS) town, spring, bore, dam or lake water, the approximately 20% reject might be several thousand parts per million, and way above the maximum 500 ppm for drinking water as recommended by the World Health Organization of the United Nations. That reject water goes into the sewer, but a portion is saved for watering plants or washing the concrete floors. In the case of rainwater as input water, it is quite pure off the roof, except for an unacceptable pathogen level. Since it is boiled in the distillation process, all of the pathogens are neutralized, and the reject is recycled back into the rainwater tanks for re-use. This is important in a drought situation, because with input rainwater, 100% will be distilled and filled into bottles for consuming customers, so that there is no waste, until the re-cycled rainwater exceeds 400 ppm out of the reject part of the distiller. At that point the former rainwater now over 400 ppm goes into the sewer.

The steam distilled water from the distiller passes through a post active carbon filter on its way to a bulk storage tank. The active carbon filters remove any potentially carcinogenetic tri halo methanes (THM's) that may have been created within the distilling process. Prior to bottling, the water will be ozonated (more information following) for our discriminating drinking as well as industrial customers.

We encourage visits to ours and any of our Refresh Pure Water® nationwide plants to better understand our unique production process. Our Toowoomba plant at 600 Boundary Street is open to the public Monday to Friday from 8 to 5. We will show you how we produce the purest 'sweet like rainwater' drinking water in Queensland and Northern NSW – using Mother Nature's long established water purification process.

Vapor compression distillers in use throughout the Australian Refresh Pure Water® network vary in production capability from 900 to over 4000 litres per hour.

All distilled water after being boiled, regardless of the distillation process, coming out of a distiller is devoid of free oxygen. The 'free' oxygen leaves the water during the boiling process, and without it gives the cooled distilled drinking water an undesirable 'burnt' or 'cooked' taste.

In preparation to giving Refresh its desired 'rainwater taste', we produce ozone (O3) in a similar way to Mother Nature with her lightning strikes. Produced ozone is bubbled through the water in storage and during bottling to re-oxygenate and insure total pathogen free water will be bottled. The ozone in the water being bottled also kills all of the airborne bacteria inside the 'disinfected' bottle being filled. In a few hours, the ozone entrained in the water reverts to the oxygen (O2) we breathe, leaving a nicely oxygenated water with that desirable 'rainwater taste'. It is also a water that will not turn green in the bottle when exposed to sunlight, and allows an indefinite use by date in contrast to all of the bottled spring waters who demand their water be kept out of the sun and have a limited 'best before' date.

You can read more on Ozone below following the discussion on our Drink up®: ultra pure reverse osmosis drinking water.

Mother and baby
Many new parents, having read our brochure and seen our posters, are assured they can use our Refresh Pure Water® for their babies without boiling.

We know of no other commercially available water able to make that claim for the purity of their drinking water.

Now, let's talk about Drink up®, our 'Ultra Pure' Reverse Osmosis (RO) drinking water.

Drink up® the second purest drinking water after our Refresh Pure Water®, is produced using a reverse osmosis (RO) system. RO water is produced by pushing water under pressure through sheets of membranes tightly rolled inside a cylinder. The membranes we use are fine enough to allow passage of water (H20) molecules only. Much larger atoms/molecules of various dissolved minerals, metals, and chemicals that have attached themselves to that water molecule – making it 'hard' – must be physically stripped away as the water molecule on its own is forced through the membrane.

Drinkup logo Water osmosis is the natural occurrence when 'soft' water molecules on their own fall from the clouds as rain, snow, hail or sleet, and on contact with the earth's surface begin to dissolve the various minerals, metals, and man's chemicals in the soil. The water becomes 'hard' due to an ionic attachment to the water molecule. The stripping of those extra items, which had attached themselves to the water molecule, as it is forced through the membrane, is called 'reverse osmosis'.

In order for the RO method to continue, the multitude of minerals, metals and chemicals physically stripped from the H20 molecules build up on the back of the membrane material and must be flushed off. Large quantities of water (up to 70% of the input) are required to backwash the membrane surface. When using our primary input rainwater initially containing less than 20 ppm of dissolved solids, which is a very low concentration of those substances to be stripped from the water molecule, we are able to save the roughly 70% backwashing water back into the rainwater tanks for re-use, until the TDS level in that re-cycled water coming from the rainwater tanks exceeds 400 ppm. In Toowoomba, the average town water currently exceeds 300 ppm TDS by the time it reaches the tap at its destination, or ready to be injected into the RO machine. This is considerably higher than normal rainwater off a roof, so it can be seen why we are able to re-cycle the reject rainwater back into the rainwater tanks, during our difficult times with local government water restrictions.

There are hundreds of interesting well-written websites telling the reverse osmosis story and various production systems available to provide this pure water. Only a few of the systems available in the marketplace will produce an ultra pure drinking water at less than 5 ppm TDS, as we do with our Drink up®, because we are using a much finer 'brackish water' membrane. But, any of the typical RO membrane systems will produce pure water with a low TDS much like the levels found in rainwater off a roof into a tank. Use of a typical 2 cartridge under-sink filter system, that does not incorporate the RO membrane in a separate canister will not effectively remove the dissolved minerals, metals or chemicals in the water, but only removes sediment travelling in the pipeline plus chlorine injected at the water purification plant. Chlorine, that was injected into the water to protect the drinking person from typical bacteria found in un-treated water – read bore, rainwater, and bottled spring and mineral waters.

To help better understand the fineness of an RO membrane, think of a 30 cm X 30cm (1 square foot) piece of membrane stretched out to be as wide and deep as the Pacific Ocean. The openings in that vastly stretched membrane will only allow the passage of a water (H20) molecule that would have now increased to about the size of the Australian $2 coin or the American dime - 10 cent piece. A standard home use carbon filter stretched out in a similar manner would then have openings within the filter medium closer to the size of a large automobile or medium sized truck. Those openings whether stretched or normal are still large enough to allow all of the dissolved minerals, metals, chemicals and pathogens to simply 'swim' through. Big difference, and with a carbon filter tending to shed its contents into the water being filtered it is easy to see why the Refresh Pure Water® people testing carbon water filters show filter owners that their filter is putting more back into the filtered water than the water entering the filter.

In other words the INPUT water being filtered will usually have a lower quantity of dissolved solids than the water ALREADY filtered.

Granted, the filter removes the offensive taste of the poisonous chlorine gas that was injected at the treatment plant to kill bacteria in the water and protect the water consumer, but that chlorine gas will disappear from tap water if left standing on a bench for a short time. Better for the filter user to save their money.

Back to the RO membrane, water passing through it is further passed through an active carbon filter and then collected into a bulk water tank. Our pure Drink up® reverse osmosis produced drinking water then receives the same ozonation process prior to bottling as described above for our steam distilled Refresh Pure Water®.

We use several more water saving methods in addition to our ability to re-cycle rainwater as discussed above, due to the critical need to conserve water here in the world's driest continent. Our bottle washing and disinfection process water is dumped into the sewer, but the final litres of water used for rinsing, plus overflow from bottling are saved into a small tank. When the tank is filled, a sump pump inside transfers the saved water into a larger tank. When filled that water is processed through the distilling or reverse osmosis process to make ultra pure water ready for ozonation and bottling for the discriminating drinking public, and in many cases their pets too.

Why Ozonate the water?
Ozone is a naturally occurring gas and is also nature's finest natural disinfectant commonly produced by lightening strikes - to clean the air - and can also be produced by the electrical arc across the armature of the normal electric motor, as well as by the sun's UV rays to form the protective ozone layer around our earth.

No known pathogen can live in the concentrated presence of ozone, which in chemistry is 'three' atom oxygen (O3). Ozone in water has a 20 minute 'half-life' so that it begins breaking down within minutes into the 'two' atom oxygen (O2) molecules we breathe. But, within that life span the ozone completely disinfects and kills all known pathogens. As an oxidant, 3 atom oxygen (ozone) is thousands of times stronger than 2 atom oxygen. Ozone is also many times stronger and faster to act on bacteria than the chlorine gas commonly used in most town waters. Ozone in contact with pathogens explodes them while chlorine gas provides only a slow poisoning process. So remember, ozone kills all bacteria, cysts, and viruses, while chlorine gas only kills bacteria, and then the chlorine gas in the water leaves an undesirable taste until allowed to escape into the atmosphere, or removal through a carbon filter.

We can produce and bubble ozone through our 'ultra pure' waters with no worries about its highly corrosive nature, because our 'ultra pure' under 5 ppm TDS drinking waters contain no potentially problematic dissolved minerals, metals or chemicals that might oxidize into potential carcinogenic compounds. Bubbling of ozone through waters is not something many town water plants or spring water bottlers can do with confidence and then put the water into the local piping system and still guarantee the water delivered to the homeowner's tap will be totally bacteria free.

The end result with pure waters when breaking down from 3 atom oxygen (ozone) into 2 atom oxygen (breathing air) is a nicely oxygenated water, that the human body appreciates and can use to thwart off and destroy unwanted anaerobic pathogens (bacteria, etc.) in the body.

Due to all of the above, both Refresh Pure Water® or Drink up® will not turn green in the bottle or become slimy when exposed to sunlight. If allowed by the authorities, we could proudly print on our bottling labels – BEST BEFORE/USE BY: NIL. Here again 'ultra pure' drinking water less than 5 ppm (parts per million) of TDS (total dissolved solids) is what we produce.

Ok, now let’s explain our electrolysis (conductivity) 5 glass test:

At Drink-Pure Pty Ltd, we conduct no charge (FREE) water testing on any waters using a conductivity (electrolysis) test. Typical results are shown below, plus the test results are shown in our brochure, flyer, and the backs of our business cards. It is a completely honest test that takes less than 5 minutes.

In our early days, the academic (chemistry) staff at the University of Southern Queensland here in Toowoomba helped us to review our chemistry and better understand exactly what was happening. That is how we explain the results during and following the 'vividly' visual test.

Most tap (especially if filtered), bore, spring and mineral waters contain high levels of undesirable dissolved solids. With our testing and thorough explanations, we discuss the merits and de-merits of various drinking waters. To also assist, we have an 11 minute CD and video covering steam distilled drinking water, plus we have used a slightly sped up scene in our TV advertisements.

We believe it is important for people to see and understand what is lurking in most of the nice clear waters they are drinking. So, please examine the following illustration, and read the explanations below. When you want to see the test for yourself, please come and see us or give us a call. We conduct discussions and test the people's own waters individually or in groups at interested schools, plus social and business groups catering to both the young and old.

Bottled & Mineral water (1 and 2) represent what are commonly called ‘Spring or Mineral Waters’. Spring waters are by definition bore water even if a few centimetres downstream the water flows into the light of day as a ‘spring’. With the terrific absorption capabilities of soft rainwater – due to its negative ion charge - minerals and metals in the soil are dissolved mainly by moving water, and their molecules taken into solution so that the individual water molecule becomes larger and more complex. The water has moved from being ‘soft’ to ‘hard’. These dissolved minerals and metals in the now harder water are in ‘in-organic’ form, and cannot be absorbed by the body’s cells for any nutritional purposes. Don't confuse 'inorganic' calcium (a primary constituent of cement used in building) in water with the 'organic' calcium in milk, spinach, or raw nuts. Since 'inorganic' dissolved minerals and metals are not readily accepted by the cells of the body, they can drift around and accumulate in the body contributing to some forms of arthritis, hardening of the arteries, gall and kidney stones, and worst of all potential ossification of the brain which is believed to be a cause of dementia. Check out the contents of the waters on the labels or bottles – in the fine print. Why the fine print if spring and minerals waters are supposed to be so good for humans to drink?? There is no bio-chemist or nutritionist out there recommending the consumption of dissolved minerals and metals in water. Nor, did your mother approve when you consumed spoonfuls of muddy dirt in your earlier days!

Drink-Pure® or Drink up® (D, center glass) contains ‘ultra pure’ drinking water. Either water will have the desirable lively and tasty ‘taste’ of rainwater. With both waters containing less than 5 parts per million (ppm) of TDS (totally dissolved solids), the electrolysis probes will not conduct electricity, because there is nothing dissolved in the water to color it as with the other glasses. So, both of our waters will remain nice and clear during the testing - a real testimony to our water's purity. Consider that all growing plants actually distill (photosynthesise) the water taken up by their root systems. So if anyone tells you to avoid drinking distilled water, remind them of the photosynthesising story and that the water portion of any fruits and vegetables they eat has been distilled. Because of photosynthesis distilling, the consumer won't see any of the 'muddy irrigation' water the farmer used turning up in the water portion of any fruits and vegetables – or bottles of wine - consumed, because all plants photosynthesise (distill) the water absorbed by its roots. It is the photosynthesis process converting the non-useable 'in-organic' minerals and metals into friendly 'organic' ones acceptable by our body's cells for health and vitality. It is all part of the process Mother Nature designed for humans and all living mammals millions of years ago. Nothing has changed now that we are into the 21st century.

Tank rainwater (3). Rainwater as it is getting ready to leave the clouds is a pure water containing simply water (H20) without impurities. As the droplets travel towards the ground, they begin picking up particles of man's pollution floating beneath the clouds over the entire earth's surface. That increases the totally dissolved solids (TDS) in parts per million (ppm) of the rainwater, but only marginally compared to what happens once the droplets hit the earth. So, rainwater just before hitting the roof is fairly pure with a low TDS. The low TDS explains the light color in the above glass.

The real problem with tank water begins once the rain hits the roof and starts travelling towards the tank. Between rainfalls, birds, possums, and other crawly fellows have been occupying the same roof and the TV antenna, and inside the tank. We all know what they have been doing, and the bacteria and other pathogens makes, the water in rainwater tanks unfit for human consumption. It becomes worse in summer because the water is warmer and bacteria multiply faster. Exceptions are if the water is being continuously circulated through an in line UV lamp, or ozone is bubbled through the water at least weekly. Alternatively, consider boiling the water at a 'rolling boil' for a minimum of 10 minutes, or use the water in a small home distillation unit (we sell) to provide pathogen free drinking water. Bringing water to the boil in a jug will kill some but not the tough dangerous bacteria. Some of our best customers drank tank water 'all their lives' and then they got sick. It takes a long time to shake off Giardia or Cryptosporidiosis from ones intestinal tract. One other problem with tankwater occurs in agricultural areas using airplane delivered sprays on crops. Wind drift can deposit the poisonous particles on a roof to be washed into the tank when it rains.

Tap water (4). Tap water (4). Most tap waters contain relatively high levels of both dissolved minerals and metals plus a discouraging array of chemicals – many that came with the water. Additives that were dissolved and washed into the dam reservoir and/or bore, plus any added at the treatment plants. Chlorine is essential to kill bacteria, but it fails to kill cysts and viruses (remember the 1998 Sydney, Australian town water crisis with Giardia and Crytosporidium). Chlorine can also produce dangerous by-products linked to cancer called 'tri halo methanes', if the base water contains any organic matter. Some town and city fathers falsely believe that fluoride is important to add, but many countries in Europe and states and provinces in North America forbid the addition of the highly poisonous sodium fluoride, a waste chemical from the production of Aluminum. The jury is still out on the value of naturally occurring fluoride in drinking water, but there's no discussion on the dangers of adding the waste chemical, which is what is used. It's a long story, with lots of facts on the Internet. Some consumers believe they are removing dissolved solids from their tap water with the single or double cartridge common under-sink or tap mounted carbon filters. A Refresh Pure water® representative will show in most cases that a carbon filter will put more back into the water than it removes. Yes, chlorine and solids will be removed using a filter, but putting chlorinated water straight out of the tap into an open dish will allow the chlorine gas to vaporize, leaving the water free of a chlorine taste. Remember, city tap waters have been 'PURIFIED' for the drinker's protection. Using a filter 'DE-PURIFIES' it.

Which glass of water would you prefer?

‘Yes, there is a choice, and a pure one at that’

OK, but I need reassurance, because I learned differently about drinking waters!

I am guessing some of the above isn’t what you have always believed, so now, let me give you some additional water facts to help dispel some of the ‘folklore’ associated with the consumption of ‘ultra pure’ drinking water.

    · Ask any biochemist or physiologist and they will explain that the dissolved ‘inorganic’ minerals and metals found in water cannot be utilized by the cells - for nutrition - in the body. Only ‘organic’ photosynthesised minerals and metals found in the foods we eat are capable of being absorbed by the body’s over 30 trillion cells, and some would say over 100 trillion cells.

    · Where have those ‘inorganic’ minerals and metals gone that the cells of the body cannot absorb? Let’s take calcium, said to be the most common mineral in the earth’s surface. Calcium (carbonate) in the ground is one of the main components in cement. Kidney and gall stones, some forms of arthritis, ossification of the brain (dementia), hardening of the arteries in concert with cholesterol, and inner-ear problems are directly related to the 'in-organic' calcium formed in the body from calcium in water! This excludes our pure Refresh Pure Water® & Drink up®. All others including spring and mineral waters have the problem calcium (carbonate). Check the bottle label of your water, and see the other problematic minerals in small print. Why the small print if so good for us?

    · Let’s take hardening of the arteries, which is caused by the calcium from water gradually building up inside the arteries along with cholesterol. Take an X-ray and what is seen of the arteries is the calcium. Put the same person on a pure water like Refresh Pure Waterฎ or Drink upฎ for several months, take another X-ray, and the arteries may now be invisible. The pure water circulated with the blood will have dissolved and assisted in flushing out the calcium from the arteries - the big visible ones on the X-ray. Now, consider what has also happened with the flushing and clearing of the tiny blood vessels that make up over 100 kilometres of blood vessels in a human body.

    · Before you next consume any fruits and vegetables, think about what the trees and plants produce. The liquid water portion of any fruits and vegetables is 'pure', and was actually distilled during the growing process. There will not be any of the dirty 'inorganic' soil (that is both minerals and metals) mixed in with any of the water that was used to irrigate the plants. The 'dirty' minerals and metals absorbed by the plant's roots will be converted to an 'organic' form, and is ready for the body's cells to accept and begin providing nutrition.

    · Yes, the rainwater produced by Mother Nature, high in the clouds (not to be confused with rainwater in a tank) remains the best for the human body, and has been since time began. The human body as it is known today has not evolved in the past 30,000 (thirty thousand) years. Man then, did not have the ability to pump up ground water to drink, and that includes today's spring water. Drinking water should be natural – not alkaline as some would have us believe. Our bodies are naturally alkaline - even with the highly acidic contents in our stomachs, skin and other organs. If someone wants to drink alkaline water, drink town water as it is purposely made alkaline to avoid eating away the steel pipes in the ground by naturally (slightly) acidic rainwater produced by Mother Nature in her evaporation 'distillation' process. It is a subject we enjoy discussing both at the consumer and technical level, especially with those bottling and supplying spring and mineral waters.

Ok, let’s assume you have had some problems understanding or believing parts or all of the above points on ‘folklore’. And, you remain convinced the minerals and other invisible items in your tap, bore, and bottled spring and mineral waters are actually good for your body's health. Make it easy, and ask us or secure statistics from the Australian Government statistics covering recommended dietary mineral and metal intakes for infants, young children, boys, girls, men and women. We used an actual freely available chemical analysis report from the Toowoomba City Council's Mount Kynoch Water Treatment Plant. The laboratory reports cover 5 minerals essential for the nutritional needs of the body – if they were 'organic' but they were water 'inorganic'. We calculated and listed below just how many 8 ounce (250 ml) glasses of that particular water would need to be drunk in order to obtain the cells of the body's nutritional daily need for that mineral and metal. Please remember that nutrition for the body's cells is different from the need of basic water as a liquid to keep all of the body organs and functions operational.

Mineral/metal                           8 ounce glasses required/day – based on Australian Gov. statistics:
  Males Females
  12-15 years 19-64 years 12-15 years 19-54 years

Iron 2000 - 2600 1400 2000 - 2600 2500 - 3400
Calcium 811  208   260   208
Magnesium  96  119  89  100
Sodium  150 – 374  150 – 514  150 – 374  150 – 374
Potassium  2500 – 6999  2500 – 6999  2500 – 6999  2500 – 6999

Looking at the above, and even if you are right - with the experts wrong - about getting helpful nutrition from ground waters, it sure is a lot of water to drink – every day. Better to let the consumption of fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, and good quality supplemental vitamin products provide the body's daily nutritional requirements. We hope you will decide a pure water like Mother Nature's original and continuing is the correct choice. To reinforce an earlier statement, don't expect to get nutrition from the water you drink, but remember there is no bodily function that can occur without water being present. Like using good quality engine oil in your car, why not use good quality water in sufficient quantities in your body, as Mother Nature originally designed? There's only one body for you in this lifetime. We at Refresh currently produce 2 suitable waters with our steam distilled Refresh Pure Water® and reverse osmosis Drink up®.

Now, let’s get the water out of the bottles

Bottle with tapOur polycarbonate bottles (closest to glass) all have molded carrying handles. Our bottles are 15 litres in size, and we fill to approximately 15 3/4 litres.

DISPENSERS - We have a variety of dispensing methods available for our water-drinking customers:

Tap bottles with their own built-in tap. Tap bottles require no separate dispensing device, and sit right-side up very nicely on a counter below most overhead cupboards. They are easier to handle, as they do not need to be lifted up, turned over and dropped in place as with all of the following. To use, a hole is punched in the top of the cap to avoid a vacuum, and when the water level inside the bottle drops to the tap, the cap is easily removed by pulling on the extended ‘tab’ and then the balance of the water can be poured out of the top of the bottle, as the bottle is much lighter now than when full. The removed cap can be ‘snapped’ back in place.

Pottery and Plastic Waterwells. Non-cooled containers with a tap in the front, are popular where room temperature water is desired. The cap is removed and the bottle is carefully positioned upside down. Many of the newer pottery types have a spear inside so that the cap does not need to be removed. The waterwells still have approximately 4 litres of water when the bottle on top is empty.

Fridge Packs. 5 litre rectangular container with its own dispensing tap and filled from another water bottle, or dispenser is kept in the refrigerator for chilled water. It has a space efficient shape.

Commercial ‘high producing’ Dispensers*. These use an internal spear to poke a hole into the bottle cap as it is turned over and dropped into place so that the cap does not need to be removed. The internal spear probe means there is no more 'aim and hope' or 'wet feet' when putting a full bottle in place.

Benchtop -1 model for homes and offices – with 2 dispensing taps:
· Hot and Cold - 1st tap Cold (adjustable 12 – 5 deg C, producing 4.5 lit/hr.) 2nd safery (childproof) tap for Hot - coffee/tea – (approx. 85 - 90 deg C, producing 3 - 5 lit/hr.) or switched off for room temperature water.

Floor Dispensers - 2 models for homes and offices – each with 2 dispensing taps:
· 1st Model – 1st tap Cold (adjustable 5 – 12 deg C, producing 4.5 lit/hr.) and 2nd tap room temperature,
· 2nd Model – Hot and Cold 1st tap Cold (adjustable 12 – 5 deg C, producing 4.5 lit/hr.) 2nd safety (childproof) tap for Hot – coffee/tea - (85 – 90 deg C, producing 7 lit/hr.) or switched of for room.temperature water.

* We issue no instructions on how to keep the insides of any of our chilled or hot dispensing units clean, because there is no accumulation of foreign objects or growth of algae typical of bottled spring waters. When we cleanout a cooler dispenser having used a spring water, we use a dilution of hydrogen peroxide first followed by a solution of bi-carb of soda. Our waters do not turn green and slimy when exposed to a bit of sunlight, so that the bottle need not be covered with a cardboard box or a specifically made spring water 'shroud'.

Steam DISTILL your own water:

There will be more in other supermarket chains and corner stores and (gas or petrol) service stations. The containers of Moores/Refresh are filled with the only widely available commercial steam distilled water for both drinking and use in any appliance calling for a pure distilled water to prevent build-up of objectionable calcium and other problematic minerals and metals in other waters.

Refresh Pure Water® for INDUSTRIAL applications:

Any industrial application calling for a pure distilled water can safely use our Refresh Pure Water® available in 20 and 1000 litre HDPE cube containers or the customer's clean container. Remember that some producers will call both de-ionized and de-mineralized waters 'distilled'. Be careful, because the application called for by the manufacturer probably means 'steam distilled'. Refresh Pure Water® has been 'steam distilled', and can be used in any household application, like steam irons, calling for a distilled water. There's no difference between the production, handling and bottling of Industrial vs drinking. Only difference is that Industrial attracts government levied GST, while for drinking is GST FREE.
